This is Mr. Jason Poon’s first year as the Fifth Grade teacher at Saint Clement Catholic School. He is a graduate from San Jose State University where he received his Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Adapted Physical Activity. Prior to joining the Saint Clement Catholic School family, he worked as a mental health counselor at James Baldwin Academy where he supported students with their behavioral and educational needs. While at James Baldwin Academy, he was also a substitute teacher for grades three to twelve.

His passion to work with youth has led him to several different endeavors. His role as a mentor to a young adolescent in the juvenile justice system, volunteering in after school programs, volunteering as a college mentor to a third grade class, and being a coach to a boys volleyball team has fueled his passion for education, as a whole.

Mr. Poon’s goal in his first year is to foster a safe, fun, and challenging environment for his students to learn and uphold the school’s pillars of Faith, Community, and Excellence. He truly believes that “Our greatest natural resource is the minds of our children.” He is excited to begin his adventure of preparing his students to transition out of elementary school and into middle school. Fifth Graders will begin learning the basics of geometry, using critical thinking skills to analyze reading and other new and exciting things! This school year will be filled with overcoming new challenges, exceeding new goals, and overall… learning FUN!
