Mrs. Josephine Ricafrente is the Eighth Grade homeroom and math teacher. She spent the majority of her schooling in the Philippines and graduated from the University of Santo Tomas with a B.S. in Biochemistry. While this is her first year at Saint Clement Catholic School, her middle school teaching experience spans the last fifteen years. Mrs. Ricafrente began teaching math full-time at Highlands Christian School in San Bruno for two years, before transitioning to middle school math and science for eight years at Fremont Christian. She has spent the last five years substitute teaching for all of the districts in the Tri-City, at both the middle school and high school level. At all of her stops, she has learned that underlying all teaching environments and student demographics, speaking from your heart, and truly loving the students from the start makes for a long-lasting impact and relationship.
Given that students spend the majority of their day in their classrooms, Mrs. Ricafrente sees school and the school community as family away from home. She takes pride in creating an environment in which students should feel comfortable learning and exploring, continuing to take pride in their individual capabilities and enjoying the process of learning, which takes time. By the end of the school year, she hopes that her Eighth Graders are each better representations of the pillars of Saint Clement Catholic School – 1) FAITH, 2) COMMUNITY, and 3) EXCELLENCE – and move onward and outward as agents of God’s love in high school and the world.
